Over the last few years I too began having daily nausea, reflux, car sickness, stomach cramping, gas and diarrhea. I've been drinking Maxwell House for many years and have always enjoyed it. It goes in the garbage now and glad I only bought one bottle of it - yikes! I literally felt like my stomach had a freight train running through it - horrible pain and diarrhea. I NEVER associated it with the coffee as I drank it for years! We only drank instant, same now, as I don't drink enough coffee to brew a pot of coffee. But it continued - I worried and started Googling around. When I had the second Moderna shot, I did get nauseous and had horrible stomach cramps which lasted 24 hours. All this week I could not understand what was wrong with my stomach - last Saturday I got my Moderna COVID booster. Due to the shortage on supply shelves, they were out of Nescafe, so I got Maxwell House. My mother and I drank instant Maxwell House coffee for years, but after she passed away, I decided to switch to something more robust so for the past decade, I've been drinking Nescafe. I'm so relieved to find this forum - I thought something was wrong with my stomach, a stomach which is like cast iron and nothing bothers it. Maxwell House Original Roast Instant Making Me Sick! Checked on their McCafe coffee, and prices as totally ridiculous per bag, so that's a NO GO.Either Kraft/MH will go broke or back to their good coffee beans of yesteryears! I'm done with them, now! I don't patronize them hardly ever, but my sister wanted something from there, so I had coffee. Never really liked Folgers, but might try it again and see if any better than what I have now! The pleasant aroma of coffee brewing in the mornings you coule smell thruout the house, and that is NO more as well! So I guess this $11 can of MH will now occupy my compost pile, maybe the worms will enjoy it more than I! I had some McD's coffee the other morning as we were traveling, and it was good. It was good coffee back then, so used it a good while till prices came back down within reason. I'm glad to see it's not just me noticing the diffence in my coffee! After reading so many of these comments I understand the issue, Greed for Money! I have been drinking MH coffee mostly for over 50 years, and this past year it has really gotten bad, and just opened a new can today, brewed it and it tastes like piss! Sorry, it's just that BAD! Back when coffee went really high back in the 80's & 90's, I bought the Kroger Bean Coffee, Spotlight that You could grind yourself in the stores, another thing of the past. I chalked it up to lack of sleep and caffeine combination as the cause. I haven't paid attention exactly what brand I was drinking. Every once in a while, I get super nauseous and just feel sick the rest of the day after coffee. Then read about all the people complaining of headaches and sickness from coffee. I thought it was just me, but apparently not after stumbling on the post! If I could afford gourmet coffee on a daily basis I would, but at these prices, I may just have to quit all together and give up a 36 year morning ritual. Now, the past 2 cans have just tasted horrible all of a sudden. We both switched back to Folgers a few years ago. Then it started tasting bland for some reason, and my sister agreed. I've been a faithful Maxwell House drinker for over 20 years because it used to have better flavor than Folgers. Wow, I can't believe all these comments! I've been having a coffee dilemma for several years now and it just keeps getting worse. I thought it was just me with the bad taste and nausea! If you want to check out some Robusta blends, to see if that is the taste you are missing, look out for Italian coffees in your local stores and read the packaging.Ĭomments for Has Maxwell House coffee gone bad? (Large companies sometimes like to use a percentage of Robusta beans, simply because they are significantly cheaper to buy.)Īnyway, if you no longer like the Maxwell House coffee, there are hundreds of other coffees available in stores and online. If Maxwell House formerly used a blend of both Arabica and Robusta beans in their blends, that would explain the change in taste. Whether or not they made any changes to the coffees they put in the cans, who knows. I checked out their site and see that they have changed their packaging recently. I assume you have been buying the ground coffee, and not Maxwell House's instant coffee. I have called the company but the lady couldn't tell me anything, so I'm hunting for a good tasting coffee again. I used rich original, but now the bag or can says Arabica beans. I have used regular Maxwell House for many years, but lately it just is not any good.
